NOTICE is hereby given that the Town Council will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the Council Chambers, 215 Main St., Brookneal, Virginia, at 7:00 PM to receive public input concerning the dumpsters located behind the Town Hall on Bank Street.
Any person who wishes to present his or her views on the dumpsters will have an opportunity to do so at this meeting.

Any person who wishes to present his or her views on the proposed trash fee will have an opportunity to do so at this meeting.

The Town of Brookneal will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers to solicit public input on the 2025/2026 Brookneal Town budget. Approved water-sewer rate increases in Brookneal effective 7/1/24

The Brookneal Town Council approved the FY25 budget along with the following water and sewer rate increases for FY25, FY26, and FY27. The last water rate increase was in FY16, and the last sewer rate increase was in FY21. Due to increasing labor and chemical costs, the expenses of the water/sewer fund have increased significantly over the past few years.

Russell Thurston, Former Town Manager of Brookneal, Presented with Resolution from the House of Delegates

On May 9, 2024, Former Town Manager Russell Thurston was presented with a resolution from the House of Delegates commending him upon his retirement after more than 12 years of service to the Town of Brookneal. Virginia State Delegate Eric Zehr presented the resolution to Mr. Thurston at a Campbell Connects meeting at the Drugstore Grill in Brookneal.

Brookneal Brings in the Fish with its Striped Bass & Catfish Tournaments

Residents of the Town of Brookneal spent their weekend, April 19, 20, and 21, on the Staunton River/Brookneal Boat Ramp participating in the 2024 Striped bass Fishing tournament and the 2024 Catfish Tournament.
